Noodles is a show idea that emerged from a research and development project we ran earlier in the year, looking for a new direction and different style of work that could take NoFit State into midscale theatres and to a whole new audience.
Unlikely inspiration
The show is loosely inspired by the Fellini film Ginger and Fred and our love of Wagamama. Set in a 1950's TV studio, a cooking show soon expounds into the world of Noodles. Using live video we plan to exploit the on/off stage versa the on/off camera worlds, searching for comedy in the space between.
The cast is made up of five international performers; a magician, a tight wire artist, a handbalancer and two aerialists.
Mundo Parrelo was our first adventure in to the world of theatre. Mundo was a coproduction with National Theatre Wales and Thtre Tattoo. It played in the London Mime Festival and toured France and Wales in the spring. We learnt a lot from Mundo ? especially about the different challenges of theatre spaces and the expectations of theatre audiences.
The next step
It? s early days for Noodles we have another four weeks development in January before a public showing of the work in progress at the Riverfront in Newport early February 2013.
