We are a partnership of artists and community organisations working in Adamsdown, Splott and Tremorfa. The aims of the partnership are to:
- Co-create a cultural programme (workshops, performances, exhibitions, digital production) accessible for local people.
- Celebrate the unique cultural diversity of our local area.
- Strengthen community and make our Square Mile a better place to live and work
- Provide a platform for diverse artists and creatives to tell their stories
What is the Square Mile Festival and Summer Programme?
The festival and summer workshop are created by and for the people of Splott, Tremorfa and Adamsdown to celebrate local arts & culture.
The summer event is an extraordinary day of free performances, installations, making sessions, and community celebration.
In the lead up to the festival, there will be free activities and workshops over the summer holidays for local people and families and refugees + asylum seekers to get involved with.
What is the theme?
This year’s theme we are exploring COMMON GROUND.
The Square Mile partnership is committed to building equity and reclaiming public spaces, recognising that diverse stories and voices must always be present for a strong and healthy society. This year the focus of the Square Mile Partnership Event is the common ground that unites our communities of people and place.
And what is this common ground? It might be the physical space we share, or our local history and stories, the community we find in our places of worship or community centres, the languages we speak, the music we make.. , It also isn’t always about our similarities but on how together we build upon our differences and make these into new creative strengths.
A conversation about “common ground” can only exist in conversation with a wide range of people and groups, so... get involved! We would love to hear from you!
