An outdoor circus enquiry Parklife was orgionally co-commissioned by Without Walls, the Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Brighton Festival and was performed in Stockton International Riverside Festival in Summer 09 and Norfolk and Norwich and Brighton Festivals in Spring 2010. We are please to announce that a second phase of development has been funded by Arts Council of England and will begin in August 2010 with a development week in Wales culminating with a residency and performance in Pontadawe on 14th august 2010 Parklife video 1 Parklife video 2 Part playground, part bandstand, NoFit State takes the tent off its circus and in vites you to join them in a joyful exploration and celebration of the secret life of public parks. For a week at a time, they will take up residency in festival parks, bringing a spectacular aerial circus playground and an Open House programme of taster sessions, rehearsals, performances and happenings in collaboration with local creative groups and members of the passing public. From impromptu whistling workshops and live music jams to bicycle ballets and displays of extreme sports, there will be plenty of opportunities to get in on the act as Britain’s leading contemporary circus company launches the first phase of its exciting outdoor circus initiative. NoFitState was invited by Without Walls, a consortium of UK arts festivals to begin the process of developing a new outdoor circus show. Following on from our first three sucessful community residencies we took a professional version of the show to Glastonbury Festival 2010 where we worked in collobaration with Circolombia. The performance concept and language for the company’s silver tent shows Immortal and Tabu was developed over a 10 year period, through a trilogy of large scale collaborations between artists working in different disciplines and a wide range of community performance groups. We wish to return to this open hearted, high risk methodology in order to explore a new outdoor circus experience for our audiences.
