NoFit State Trainee scheme 2015



NoFit State are now inviting applications for our Arts Council England funded trainee scheme for 2015.

NoFit State is the UK’s leading large-scale contemporary circus company, producing professional touring productions and a wide variety of community, training, and education projects for people of all ages. Over the last five years NoFit State's touring productions have visited 15 different countries, played to audiences of over 250,000, have been critically acclaimed and won numerous prestigious international arts awards.

We have facilitated 24 traineeships since 2004. Many of our trainees have gone on to be successful professional circus performers both within NoFit State and with other circus companies. Next year's applicants will have the opportunity to work on NoFit State projects including an international tour of 'Bianco' or our innovative outdoor show 'Open House'.

Ideal applicants will be between the ages of 18-26, circus school graduates or talented self taught circus performers. We are especially interested in tumblers, trampoline, free runners, ensemble aerialists (rope and hoop) and hula hoopers, but are always happy to look at the more unusual and obscure.

Funding requirements mean applicants need to be resident in England at the time of application.

NoFit State Archive Project Job Opportunities



With support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) NoFit State, the UK’s leading contemporary circus company, is launching a new archive project of its 30 year history. In that time hundreds of thousands of people have engaged with the company as performers, participants, and audience members. We want to discover and document their stories, collect and rediscover original materials and photos and archive the material for future generations.

To deliver this project we are looking to recruit two new temporary part time positions. Both roles will run for 12 months (Jan - Dec 2015) the equivalent of 2 days a week. A flexible approach to work is desired with flexi hours (occasional evenings and weekends) to be discussed with successful candidates.


Role 1 - Assistant project manager/volunteer coordinator



This role will support the Project Manager (Ali Williams - founder and Creative Director of NoFit State) to manage the project. They will also recruit and manage community volunteers and ensure they deliver to the aims of the project as funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and be involved in the monitoring and evaluation of the project.

Role 2 - Project Archivist



This role will manage the collection of materials, stories and oral histories, and be responsible for preservation and interpretation of the physical and digital archive created by the process. They will ensure that the Archive created is delivers to the aims of the project as funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the project.
