Clifton Street Festival 2022: everything you need to know

What is Clifton Street Festival?

This week, the vibrant street and the local hub of Adamsdown, Cardiff will turn into the venue of a large-scale celebration and participatory art performance.

Kicking off with a parade and opening spectacular on Sunday 28th August, an exciting range of performances, workshops, food, and music is going to be one of the best memories you’ll have this summer.

Celebrating the community and the home to many locals of rich diversity, Clifton Street Festival takes inspiration from the surrounding streets, known locally as ‘the metals, gems and solar system’­.

 

How do I join the festival?

All activities will be free, and all ages are welcome– just turn up on the day and get into the festival spirits!

If you feel up for it, dress up in a costume inspired by the theme of ‘metals, gems and solar system’ or a costume that represents your culture and community.

 

Who is headlining the event? 

NoFit State SABOTAGE Performers, Barracwda (Afro Brazilian percussion band), Oasis One World Choir, Fluidity Freerun (parkour/freerunning), Capoeira (Afro-Brazilian martial art), Upbeat Music, Tenovus male choir, as well as local storytellers, a poetry give away, Ingoma Nshya (Female Rwandan Drumming Troupe), traditional fair games, craftivism, and so much more.

For those who’ve seen or heard about the latest NoFit State Circus show SABOTAGE, the performers will also be featuring, so take your chance to meet them on the street!

Last but not least, the festival is taking advantage of the proximity of the local shops and food offerings from around the world on Clifton Street– get ready to taste the world's delicacies.

To join the parade: arrive from 10am on Four Elms Road at NoFit State Circus; the parade starts at 11am.
