Circus Past, Present and Future

Circus Past, Present and Future is project led by New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme, celebrating 250 years of circus in 2018.

Taking place between March and August 2018 in Newcastle-under-Lyme, the birthplace of the father of modern circus Philip Astley, become a hub of celebratory activity as it joins in with the national celebrations of Circus250.

Bringing together national and international partners including NoFit State Circus and The Victoria & Albert Museum with circus experts such as Academic Advisor Professor Vanessa Toumlin (University of Sheffield), Circus Past Present and Future this will be an extraordinary year of events that will spectacularly showcase the artform in its anniversary year.

NoFit State's  unique contribution to Circus Past, Present and Future includes the World Premiere of its show, LEXICON, a photographic exhibition named 'Themes and Stories', and artists in residency programme, the CircusWorks youth festival, as well as 'STATE OF', an old school circus convention and conference held between 13 - 18 April.
