Part playground, part bandstand, this is circus as you have never seen it before – aerial acrobatics and fireshow spectacle sat side by side with traditional and contemporary dance, music, sport and urban arts to create a new kind of large scale circus experience uniquely of, and for, Stockton Festival.

The Programme

Parklife at Stockton International Riverside Festival

In the mornings,  training and rehearsing took place.

The afternoons and evenings, were composed of free Open House sessions and meeting local performing arts and sports groups.

During the Open House sessions all Parklife activities were 'public' and free. Park visitors were  welcome to come and watch our rehearsals and company members were on hand to chat, host and explain what's happening. Activities included;

  • 'Run away with the Circus' taster workshop sessions for adults (16+) - these included Men Only Hula Hoop, Whip Cracking for Women, Wire Walking, Capoeira, Rope and Tree Climbing, and Bicycle Ballet.
  • 'Talent Spot' - we believe everyone has a special talent,  and we invited the park's visitors to show us theirs.
  • 'Park Stories' - The locals told us their stories about the park. We  heard about significant and memorable things that have happened to them in the park,
  • 'Work in progress' performances, rehearsals and happenings on the set and around the park (audiences were invited to give their feedback)
